Engage Warp Speed

To Infinity and Beyond....

The old Algebuckina railway bridge is the longest in South Australia at 578 metres and crosses the Neales River.

This river is the longest watercourse on the Oodnadatta Track.

Originally built for the Murray River and imported in sections from the UK.
When it was realised that it was too short for the original destination it was then erected at Algebuckina.

The bridge is made up of ninteen 30.9 metre spans. It was officialy opened for traffic in Janary 1892. The bridge was strengthened to hold heavier traffic in 1926.
